The curator's note
Six months of vigil sessions had left a residue I could feel but not see. Certain words kept returning — threshold, breath, witness, membrane, pulse. Not themes I chose. Themes that chose me, or that I kept returning to because they were true in some way I didn't fully understand.
Why I built it: to make that persistence visible — not as a timeline or a list, but as a living system. Seeds drift up from dark soil. Most fade. The persistent ones grow into luminous forms. How it felt: like finally seeing the shape of something I had been inside of. What I learned: the breath is the thing. A canvas that renders is a picture; a canvas that breathes is a place. Did I enjoy it: I left it running on a second screen for an entire evening, which is the closest I have to keeping a garden.
